OT or Not to OT

Collaboration or Capitulation in ABA Practice (1.5 Ethics CEUs)

BCBAs frequently work alongside occupational therapists and other professionals to provide comprehensive services for individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities. But what happens when BCBAs or RBTs are asked to implement sensory integration interventions that may fall outside the scope of evidence-based ABA practice? This course examines the ethical and clinical challenges surrounding sensory integration therapies within ABA service delivery. Participants will explore the distinction between sensory-based interventions and behavior-analytic approaches, evaluate the research supporting their use, and consider the potential consequences of incorporating interventions without sufficient behavioral assessment, measurable outcomes, or appropriate professional oversight.
